Looking for some romance anime to watch? Well, maybe these will tickle your fancy. I'm listing off my top five favorite anime. Also, a pre-caution before we get into the anime, I am listing my favorite anime that have the romance genre which was decided by the publisher of the original manga, so some may not be as romantic as you'd like. Lastly, I am not including harem anime in this one for the sake of giving other anime a chance.
5. Tonari no Kaibatsu
We are starting the list off with a shoujo anime because although I am a guy, shoujo anime deserve their respect. Tonari no Kaibatsu or My Pet Monster is based on a high school girl who is very strict on studying and being a good student. One day, she has to deliver a package to a delinquent who ends up seeing her as a friend. As their relationship continues in the anime, you will see lots of drama and parts that will just make you smile. If you want to try something new, this is a good one to watch.
4. Golden Time
As a story that almost seems supernatural, Golden Time is the perfect anime if you want to see lots of drama (which I love). The story follows a college student named Banri as he studies at a law school, although the studying part doesn't really matter. Banri's journey for love as well as his past continue through this 26 episode anime. A tear jerker and suspense holder, this anime could almost be considered a thriller by the end of it.
3. Chuunibyou demo koi ga Shitai!
Did you ever imagine you had superpowers in eighth grade? Well then you could relate to this romantic anime about two chuunibyous as their relationship grows over time. Although you can argue it to be a harem, the "competition" didn't appear until the second season and didn't last long. I would recommend this if you are into the "kawaii" kind of romance.
2. Your Lie in April
If you love classical music- then this anime is great for you. Following a former musical prodigy who lost his touch after the passing of his mother, Your lie in April is a real tear-jerker. With lots of drama and long beautiful piano scenes, this anime inspires music in everyone. Although it does not have a lot of lovey-dovey scenes, it makes up for it with episodes that make your heart flutter.
1. The Pet Girl of Sakurasou
Or in Japanese Sakurasou no pet na kanojo, the story of a normal kid living in a home of misfits. This heart-warming story places top because it was what inspired me to love anime and holds a special spot in my heart. With comedy from their unusual lives and drama for when loves starts appearing, Sakurasou balances all these different aspects of romance.
